Chemical Peels

Skin Rejuvenation and Anti-Aging

Chemical Peels are one of the best solutions to many skin concerns and jump start your anti-aging protocols.

Reveal your best skin

Chemical peels are a great way to revitalize your skin and reduce skin imperfections including dark spots, fine lines and rough skin texture.  Chemical Peels in our Alpharetta MedSpa can be performed once per month if needed.  Skin imperfections make us appear older can reduce self-confidence.  By revitalizing your skin with chemical peels, these skin imperfections are improved or completely removed in some cases.  By assisting your body to remove the outer layers of skin that are causing the visible imperfections, your new refreshed skin underneath is revealed.  If you are ready to see a renewed and rejuvenated appearance when you look in the mirror, chemical peels could be just the solution.

How Do Chemical Peels Work to Renew Skin?

Your skin naturally sheds layers as it replenishes itself each day.  Skin cells grow from the deepest layers up to the surface and then shed into the environment.  This process naturally occurs every day.  As we age, the growth rate of new skin cells slows down and the shedding process slows.  This can leave you with dull appearing skin as the upper layers remain longer.

Skin imperfections like dark sun or age spots are hyperpigmentation from the melanin in the skin layers.  Chemical peels can reduce the appearance of these dark spots by helping to shed the layers and reveal the new skin underneath.  Chemical peels can help with pore size, blemishes, clogged pores and other skin issues too.  By removing the top surface layer of skin, your  own body will produce new skin cells and reveal the natural, rejuvenated skin underneath.

Chemical Peels For Anti-Aging

Chemical peels are a powerful part of anti-aging protocols.  By helping your skin renew itself faster, younger appearing and behaving skin is revealed.  Your skin looks and feels more hydrated and glowing, fine lines and dark pigment are reduced and overall your skin just looks more youthful.

There are many types of chemical peels available.  The brand we offer at Sculpted Contours Medpa is SkinMedica®.  This company produces a high quality medical grade skin care line and medical grade chemical peel options.  We love it because one of their main ingredients is RETINOL!

Retinol based skin care is the gold standard for anti-aging.  These chemical peels incorporate a layer of retinol on your skin to penetrate deep and give all the skin healing benefits with each peel.  Who doesn’t want high dose retinol on their skin?

With a series of chemical peels your skin can begin to look, feel and behave like younger skin again.

Frequently asked Questions About Chemical Peels

What Skin Concerns Can Chemical Peels Help?

Chemical Peels can help fine lines and wrinkles, reduce pore size, improve skin texture, improve skin hydration and luminosity (shine), improve acne scarring, improve hyperpigmentation including sun damage and melasma, improve skin tightness.  Note:  chemical peels are offered in a series of treatments to achieve maximal results.

How Long Does A Chemical Peel Take?

The chemical peel procedure takes approximately 30 to 60 minutes to complete.  This includes a review of your medical and skin care history, pre-treatment photos and the entire chemical peel procedure.  It’s easy to fit this in at the end of your day just before heading home or during the day while kids are at school.

What Can You Expect During A Chemical Peel?

Once the chemical peel treatment is started, our clinical team will wash your face to remove any makeup, dirt or oils.  This includes several passes to ensure best results from the chemical peel.  The skin prep and peeling solutions are applied in multiple layers one at a time.  If you are having a Vitalize or Rejuvenize Peel, the final step will be to apply a layer of Retinol.  After that, Sunscreen will be applied to your face and you are free to leave.

What Will Your Skin Look Like After Your Chemical Peel?

Immediately after your chemical peel, your skin may be slightly pink and you may feel a stinging sensation that can last a few minutes.  With the two peels that include Retinol, your skin will appear a slight orange color which can last a few hours before it fades. You will not wash your face until later in the day to evening depending on the time of your treatment.

What Can You Expect In The Days After Your Chemical Peel?

Depending on which level of peel you are getting, you may have no visible peeling or minimal flaking for a few days if you received the Illuminize Peel.  If you received the Vitalize Peel, you can expect mild to moderate peeling for 2 to 5 days.  If you received the Rejuvenize Peel, you can expect moderate peeling lasting for 2 to 5 days.

Are There Any Restrictions After Your Chemical Peel?

YES!  You will want to baby your skin especially during the time you are actually seeing peeling.  Do not pick or peel the skin layers away, let them slowly slough off on their own instead. You’ll want to wash your face, neck and/or chest area that was treated with a gentle face wash and avoid anything scrubbing or abrasive until the peeling process is complete.  Wear a protective sunscreen every day and protect your treated areas from direct sun exposure as much as possible by covering with clothing or a hat.

When Will You See Results FromYour Chemical Peel?

The best part of a chemical peel is as soon as the peeling process starts, your results are apparent.  Glowing, hydrated skin with less texture (roughness) and even decreased darker pigment can be seen even after 1 peel.  A series of peels is needed to achieve maximum results.  Depending on the intensity of the peel you can repeat every 2 to 6 weeks and be on your way to more youthful appearing skin in no time!
