Which RF Microneedling is the Best?

So, you are hearing the buzz about the GREATEST anti-aging skin care procedure, RF Microneedling and want to know more.  Here are the answers to the most common questions including WHICH RF Microneedling procedure is the BEST!

What is RF Microneedling?

RF stands for Radiofrequency, which is a type of energy commonly used in medical procedures and EXCELLENT for skin tightening.  This energy is delivered based on settings into the deep layers of the skin to cause tissue contraction and micro-injuries to the collagen which causes new collagen to form as it heals.  At higher settings this energy can also reduce fat, so it’s used during liposuction procedures as well.  In even higher settings surgeons use this same energy to cut and cauterize tissue during surgery.  It’s been used in medical applications for over 60 years, so it’s very safe!

Microneedling is a procedure that uses “micro” or very, very small needles to penetrate the skin and create tiny channels into the deeper skin layers.  These micro-injuries cause the body to heal itself and create new collagen.  These channels are also used to deliver collagen boosting skin care products deeper into the skin for maximum benefits.  Only certain products can be delivered into the skin, so this is something a skin care professional should do and advise on what products to use afterwards.

Regular microneedling does not use any energy during the procedure, only the needles.  Some offices that offer this will also include a RF energy procedure just before microneedling, but this is NOT the same as RF microneedling.  It’s two procedures being performed but does not provide the same as the combination of RF energy with the needling.

What is RF Microneedling & How is Different Than Regular Microneedling?

RF microneedling combines the needle penetration of microneedling with RF energy that is delivered ON the needles.  Not before or after but directly through the needles themselves.  With this procedure small amounts of energy delivered ablate or “vaporize” the tissue surrounding the needle as it penetrates the skin.  This creates larger channels and more area that your body will heal with new collagen.  The vaporized skin is now gone, which improves skin laxity even more.

Here is a great diagram showing how the energy is delivered through the needles into the skin.

What’s the Best RF Microneedling?

At Sculpted Contours Luxury Medical Aesthetics, we strive to have the best technology that produces the best results for you.  We upgraded our RF Microneedling device to Morpheus8 last year.  We did this after reviewing all the new devices that are available.  Morpheus8 RF mIcroneedling has a lot of technology advances that other devices just don’t have.  The needles used for the face and neck can penetrate down to 4mm depth allowing us to treat to a full 5 mm depth.  While this is not always necessary, when you have fat pockets, like jowls, under the chin or along the jaw line and neck, these deeper level penetrations allow us to reduce the fat as well as tighten the skin.  This can result in a more dramatic change in appearance for people that are struggling with not just skin laxity but also fat pockets.

Morpheus8 also has a custom designed handpiece and needle tips for treating areas of the body like the stomach, knees, arms, elbows, and even the thighs and butt.  Skin laxity is common in some of these areas and Morpheus8 can improve that dramatically for many people.  The body tips have penetrations down to 7 mm which allows us to treat into the fat layer and even improve the deep collagen bands that cause the appearance of cellulite on the arms, legs, and butt.

No other RF microneedling device currently available in the US has this depth of penetration.  The results from a series of Morpheus8 treatments are better because of the flexibility of the device being able to customize a treatment plan for each person at different energy settings, different pulse counts and different depths.

Our expert aesthetic team have all been trained by the InMode company trainers on how to get the best results with Morpheus8 RF Microneedling on the face, neck, and all body areas.  Sculpted Contours has over 6 years of experience performing RF microneedling procedures and multiple clinical providers that have many years and hundreds of procedures they have performed.  It’s that expertise along with the BEST RF Microneedling device, Morpheus8 that gets you the BEST results.

How is Morpheus8 RF Microneedling performed?

First a specially trained aesthetic provider will numb the skin in the area being treated.  Without numbing this procedure would be very painful.  A very strong numbing cream is applied to the surface of your skin and then you will sit and wait for at least 1 hour prior to treatment to allow for deep numbing. Your skin is then cleansed and the RF microneedling procedure is performed.

The Moprheus8 RF microneedling device penetrates the skin with tiny needles. Then the RF energy is pulsed through the tips of the needles.  This process continues until the entire area you are treating is covered.  Typically, 2 to 3 passes are made during the procedure.  After the procedure is completed, the skin is cooled and then special skin care products or PRP is applied to boost collagen and promote faster healing times.

What’s the Healing Time & Aftercare for Moprheus8 RF Microneedling?

Healing times vary depending on the treatment parameters used.  More pulses (needle penetrations) give better results but will also extend healing time slightly.  Higher energy does the same.  Our goal is to get you the best result that we can.  Healing times for face and neck are typically 3 days of “not looking your best” and another 3 days until all the pin marks from the needles completely heal.  For the body, the healing time is slightly extended and can take up to 10 days before no visible marks from the needles are present.  You don’t have to hide in the house after your treatment, the pin marks are easily covered with tinted sunscreen that we provide as part of your post procedure regimen.

Depending on each person, you choose how much you go back to your normal activities vs. hide away until your healing is complete.

Here’s a photo of our Director of Aesthetics the morning after her Morpheus8 RF microneedling procedure on her face and neck.  You decide how much you would want to show your face looking like this vs. hide away.  Within 3 to 5 days, you look mostly back to normal.  You may notice small areas where the pin holes are still slightly visible, but nothing is “that bad”.

How Many Morpheus8 RF Microneedling Procedures are Needed?

A typical series of treatments is 3 on the face and neck areas and 4 on any body areas.  Depending on the amount of laxity of your skin this protocol can be altered to provide the best results.  Treatments are completed every 4 to 6 weeks, except on people with darker skin types we recommend treatments every 6 to 8 weeks until the series is completed.  Three months after your last procedure, you will come in for your first set of follow up photos to review results.  Another set of photos is scheduled for 6 months after your last procedure to review final results.  Additional procedures to get even more results can be planned any time after 3 months.  Routine maintenance procedures are typically 1 treatment every year. Not a series again, but just one will maintain the results you got even though you are still aging!

If you are ready to see more youthful, tighter skin with decreased pore size, better skin texture, reduced fine lines and even improvement in deeper wrinkles, then Morpheus8 RF Microneedling could be the solution you are looking for.

Your next step will be to schedule an in-person consultation appointment with our expert clinical team.  We’ll discuss the concerns you have with your skin and determine whether Morpheus8 is the right solution for you.
