CoolSculpting Frequently Asked Questions in Atlanta, GA

Coolsculpting

At Sculpted Contours, Atlanta, GA’s premier fat loss and body sculpting Med Spa, we have helped hundreds of men and women achieve the bodies of their dreams with CoolSculpting. In this article, we will answer some of the questions most frequently asked by our Atlanta CoolSculpting patients.

How is CoolSculpting performed?

CoolSculpting is performed by implementing a process known as cryolipolysis. During Cryolipolysis, the temperature of a roll of fat is lowered to freezing, which is accomplished by placing the fat between a pair of cooling panels. The cold temperature literally kills the fat cells, which are then removed by the body’s natural elimination process over the next few weeks.

How long does it take to perform a CoolSculpting?

While the total time of an individual procedure will vary from patient to patient most of the CoolSculpting procedures performed at Sculpted Contours only take 35 to 60 minutes to complete. Many of our Atlanta, GA patients only wish to treat one target area with CoolSculpting, while others choose to tackle multiple areas of stubborn fat in a single visit.

And because CoolSculpting requires no anesthetic, CoolSculpting patients find that by reading, texting, or listening to music during their procedure, it hardly seems like it takes any time at all!

What areas of the body are appropriate to treat with CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting has been approved by the FDA to remove fat from almost all areas of the body, other than the ankles or calves. Through CoolSculpting, our Atlanta, GA patients can remove fat not only from the stomach, but also from the back, buttocks, upper arms, thighs, neck, flanks (“muffin top”), and even the “double chin” area.

CoolSculpting is also an appropriate treatment option for some male patients who wish to remove fat pockets from male breasts. (Note that in order to remove actual breast tissue, rather than just fat, other treatments such as liposuction or gynecomastia surgery will generally better meet the patient’s goals.)

How many CoolSculpting treatments must a patient undergo?

In many cases, a single CoolSculpting treatment can sufficiently treat an isolated area with smaller amounts of fat. Larger treatment areas of stubborn fat, on the other hand, may require multiple treatments.

At Atlanta, GA’s Sculpted Contours, we create an individualized CoolSculpting treatment plan for all of our CoolSculpting patients that are customized to meet their specific fat loss needs and desires. The optimal number of CoolSculpting treatments for your fat loss goals will be discussed at your first consultation.

Does CoolSculpting produce permanent results?

During CoolSculpting, when they are frozen, the fat cells in the treatment area are permanently destroyed. The body does not have the ability to produce new fat cells, meaning that once they are eliminated through the body’s natural processes, the fat cells destroyed during CoolSculpting can never return. Areas of the body treated with CoolSculpting can see up to a 25% permanent reduction of fat cells.

How long will it take to see results from CoolSculpting?

The majority of our CoolSculpting patients can observe visible fat loss as soon as 3 weeks after their treatment. And while it usually takes from 4 to 6 months for the body to completely eliminate the fat cells destroyed by CoolSculpting, the most dramatic CoolSculpting results from the procedure are usually visible as early as 2 months after treatment – with results simply continuing to improve as the fat cells are flushed away.

Is CoolSculpting painful?

CoolSculpting is non-surgical, non-invasive, and completely pain-free. CoolSculpting does not require an incision to be made, and CoolSculpting patients do not require anesthesia. During the beginning of the procedure, the treatment area will experience a feeling of extreme cold, but after about 5 to 10 minutes, the area becomes numb so the sensation subsides.

While CoolSculpting is not at all painful, patients may experience slight sensations of tugging, pulling, or mild pinching while the CoolSculpting handpiece is fitted to the treatment area. While some patients may find such sensations to be slightly uncomfortable, none of our Atlanta CoolSculpting patients describe the process as painful.

Following a CoolSculpting procedure, patients may experience some minor bruising, swelling, or tingling, as well as temporary redness or whiteness to the treatment area. Other patients may experience a slight stinging sensation, and in rare cases, some tenderness to the area of treatment. However, any such after-effects are completely temporary – typically lasting only for a few days, and no longer than a week.
