CoolSculpting FAQs

Common Questions About CoolSculpting in Alpharetta

If you are looking into CoolSculpting in Alpharetta, you likely have a lot of questions. That is a good thing. This treatment is a real investment in your body, and you deserve clear answers before you book. At Sculpted Contours MedSpa, we have performed more than 13,000 CoolSculpting procedures over the last 10 years, and our team is led by Kathy King, a former CoolSculpting national trainer.

Below are the questions our clients from Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton, Roswell, and the surrounding areas ask us most, with honest answers you can trust

CoolSculpting is a non-surgical way to remove stubborn fat that will not go away with diet and exercise. It uses a process called cryolipolysis, which is a fancy word for fat freezing. Fat cells freeze at a higher temperature than your skin, muscle, and nerves.

So the applicator can chill the fat layer to the point where the fat cells die, while the tissue around them stays safe. Over the next few weeks, your body clears out those dead fat cells on its own. What is left is a slimmer, smoother shape in the treated area.

At our Alpharetta MedSpa, the treatment works in three simple steps.

  • Step one: A gel pad and a cooling applicator are placed on the area you want to treat, such as your belly or love handles.
  • Step two: Controlled cooling freezes the fat cells under your skin through cryolipolysis. Your muscles, skin, and nerves are not harmed.
  • Step three: Your body naturally flushes out the frozen fat cells over the following weeks and months. A single session reduces about 20 to 25 percent of the fat cells in the treated area.

Yes. We use CoolSculpting ELITE, which is the most advanced version of the technology. Not every clinic has it, but we do. ELITE applicators cover about 18 percent more area than the older cups, so more fat can be treated in each session. Our ELITE dual systems can also treat two areas at the same time. That means you can often shape both sides of your body in as little as a lunch break.

The best candidate is close to their goal weight but has pockets of stubborn fat that will not budge. If you can pinch it, we can usually treat it. CoolSculpting is not a weight loss plan and it is not for obesity. It is a body contouring treatment for specific trouble spots. Here is what makes us different.

During your free consultation, Kathy or a member of our team will tell you honestly if you are not a good candidate. We have turned people away when we did not believe the treatment was right for them. That is the standard here.

This is one of the most common worries we hear, and it is a fair one. Poor results almost always come from one of two things. Either the person was not the right candidate, or the area was not treated correctly. Results depend heavily on who performs your treatment.

Our team is trained through CoolSculpting University, and Kathy trained other providers across the country as a former national trainer. That level of skill is hard to find at most clinics in the Alpharetta area. The only way to know if it will work for your body is a real assessment. That is exactly what your free consultation is for.

Yes. The abdomen, both upper and lower, is one of the most requested areas at our Alpharetta clinic. One thing to know is that CoolSculpting treats the pinchable fat that sits on top of your muscle. This is called subcutaneous fat. It does not treat the deeper fat behind your muscle wall, which is called visceral fat. Our team will check your abdomen during your consultation to make sure it is a good fit.

Our CoolSculpting ELITE technology can target and reduce fat in many areas, including the following.

If you can pinch it, we can CoolSculpt it. Tell us the area that bothers you, and we will let you know if it can be treated.

This is not a one size fits all treatment. Most of our clients reach their goal with 1 to 3 sessions per area, depending on the thickness of the fat and the result they want. Your personalized plan is built for your body during your consultation. We will never push you toward more sessions than you actually need.

Each treatment cycle takes about 35 to 75 minutes, based on the applicator size and the area. Because our ELITE dual systems can treat two areas at once, many clients get real results in the time of a lunch break. You can relax, watch Netflix, work on your laptop, or even nap during your session.

You may start to notice changes as early as 3 weeks after treatment. The most visible results usually appear at the 2 to 3 month mark, as your body keeps clearing out the treated fat cells. Results can continue to improve for up to 6 months after your session.

Once your body removes the treated fat cells, they are gone for good. They do not grow back. The cells that are gone cannot return. That said, the fat cells left in other areas can still grow if you gain weight. So keeping a stable weight and a healthy lifestyle helps your results last. Many clients tell us the treatment actually motivates them to take even better care of themselves.

CoolSculpting is a body shaping treatment, not a weight loss treatment. The number on the scale may not change much. What changes is your shape. It removes stubborn fat pockets to give you a smoother, more sculpted look. The closer you are to your goal weight, the more you will see your results.

Yes. CoolSculpting is FDA-cleared and has a strong safety record, with more than 15 million treatments performed worldwide. The applicators have built-in sensors that watch skin temperature and shut off if the area gets too cold, which keeps you safe and comfortable. Our team is trained through CoolSculpting University and follows advanced protocols at every step.

Most people find it very tolerable. When the cooling starts, you will feel intense cold and a pulling or tugging sensation as the applicator draws in the area. After about 10 minutes the area goes numb, and most clients read, work, or nap for the rest of the session. Afterward, the area may feel sore or tender for a week or two, a lot like the soreness after a strong workout.

Side effects are usually mild and temporary. In the treated area you may notice the following in the days and weeks after your session.

  • Redness, swelling, or bruising
  • Firmness, tenderness, or cramping
  • Tingling, numbness, or skin sensitivity, which can last a few weeks

Most of these fade on their own within days to weeks. Our team reviews every possible side effect with you before you begin.

Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, often shortened to PAH, is a rare risk of fat freezing where the treated area grows firmer and larger instead of smaller. It is well documented, and we believe you deserve to know about it. It is uncommon.

The newer CoolSculpting ELITE applicators we use have been shown to lower the rate compared to older devices, and careful candidate selection and proper technique help reduce the risk further. This is one more reason the skill of your provider matters so much. We will discuss this risk openly with you during your consultation so you can make a confident, informed choice.

Yes. CoolSculpting is completely non-invasive, with no incisions, no needles, and no anesthesia. There is little to no downtime. Most clients head straight back to work, the gym, or their day right after leaving our Alpharetta suite.

Your cost depends on how many areas you treat and the size of the applicators used. Because every plan is personalized, we give you an exact quote at your consultation. Our 150-Day Unlimited Program offers the lowest per-area pricing we have ever offered, starting as low as $240 per area. The program also lets you treat any area more than once within the 150 days, and you do not pay for every treatment up front.

Yes. We offer Cherry financing with 6-month, no-interest payment plans for qualified applicants, available through Allē Pay. Approval is based on your own credit application, so our team can walk you through which option fits your budget before or after your consultation.

Preparation is simple. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and drink plenty of water before your session. Our team will go over any other guidelines with you at your consultation so you feel fully ready.

CoolSculpting is made to reduce fat, not to tighten skin. If you have loose or sagging skin, we may suggest pairing it with a skin-tightening treatment such as Morpheus8. Your consultation is the best place to build a plan that handles both fat and skin at once.
